About The Position

Under the direction of the Furnace Supervisor, the Furnace Operator sets up and operates manufacturing equipment associated with material fabrication. This role is crucial for maintaining the flow of production in die casting processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to maintain normal flow of production.
• Must be able to pass powered lift equipment testing.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to work in hot/cold environment.
• Forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Loads specified furnace that re-melts nonferrous alloyed metals used in die casting process.
• Shovels specified proportions of scrap metal and ingots into furnace.
• Mixes fluxing compound on molten metal to bring impurities to surface.
• Skims slag from surface of molten metal, using hand strainer.
• Transfers molten metal from furnace to bull ladle to die casting holding furnace.
• Cleans furnaces and equipment.
• Performs overtime as required.
• Completes other duties assigned by supervisor or lead.
