Requirements

Ensuring that all environmental and safety requirements and practices are followed.

Responsibilities

Calculating furnace additions, operation and preparation of the Holding furnaces for casting, and the operation and preparation of the melt furnace.
Calculating, weighing, and charging of scrap, alloys, molten metal into these furnaces, fluxing, stirring, skimming, and sampling the furnaces.
Adhering to strict environmental requirements, including following each charge plan.
Monitoring the baghouse operation and reacting to all alarms.
Calculate, select, collect and weigh the proper alloy/metal mix to be melted in an assigned furnace charge.
Charge the furnaces with the above materials, which includes all alloys, purchase scrap, pure metal, butts and chips and casting scrap.
Drain and Clean furnaces with cleaning tools.
Fluxing Stirring, skimming and sampling furnaces.
Monitor all conditions of furnaces, fullness – temperature- and cleanliness.
Transfer molten metal from melter into holding furnace.
Perform housekeeping duties.
