About The Position

We are seeking a proven, frontline Furnace Operations Manager to completely own and direct our 24/7 VAR Melt Shop. This is a high-impact, full P&L-responsible operations role. You will directly manage 3 production shifts, 3 shift supervisors, and a team of approximately 30 operators. The ideal candidate is not just a technical expert, but a business-minded manufacturing leader who can drive daily volume, manage departmental metrics, and take absolute ownership of the department's safety, profitability, and total pounds produced.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of industrial Manufacturing Experience
  • 5–10 years of direct People Management experience, with a proven track record of managing multi-shift operations, supervisor-level direct reports, and large hourly headcounts (30+ operators).
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear a full-face air-purifying respirator.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment that may include moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
  • Must provide proof of US citizenship, nationality, and/or permanent resident status to comply with applicable export and import laws and regulations (ITAR/EAR).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively coordinate day-to-day operations across 24/7 rolling shifts, mentoring and managing 3 direct shift supervisors to ensure absolute operational alignment between day shifts and back shifts.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations to develop short- and long-term goals for production, safety, and quality.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and melt profiles to maximize furnace productivity and product quality.
  • Collect and analyze in-process data to ensure conformance to specifications and drive continuous improvement (6-S) efforts.
  • Develop and manage budgets to achieve cost goals and lead profit improvement programs.
  • Oversee a robust preventive maintenance program to maximize equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Issue comprehensive weekly and monthly reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), projects, and maintenance status.
  • Maintain full ownership of the department's profit and loss (P&L), drive cost-reduction strategies, manage operational budgets, and regularly report on production costs and margins.
  • Deliver against strict throughput goals; serve as the core authority capable of speaking to daily metrics, plant KPIs, and physical output (lbs produced) out of the VAR Melt Shop.
