The Funeral Director is accountable for performing a variety of tasks during the preparation, planning, and execution of the funeral and memorialization process to ensure services run smoothly and that the expectations of our client families and their guests are exceeded. This role involves consulting with client families to create personalized end-of-life memorialization experiences, presenting all available merchandising and service options, and obtaining necessary documentation such as obituaries and death certificates. The Funeral Director coordinates all service arrangements with clergy, presiding persons, and organizations, manages merchandise selections and contracts, and plans and conducts visitations and services. They also oversee staff participating in services, prepare the deceased, arrange the visitation area, direct attendees, and supervise transportation. Additionally, this role involves arranging the shipment of remains, instructing apprentice funeral directors, and performing removals and transfers. The position requires strong communication, teamwork, attention to detail, customer service, social perceptiveness, and time management skills.
