About The Position

The Funeral Attendant assists with viewings, funeral services, memorial services, transfers of remains from the place of death to the funeral home, and other tasks assigned by management. The role supports funeral directors with tasks during funerals and visitations to help services run smoothly, provides assistance and guidance to people entering the location, moves caskets and related items between service locations, and drives vehicles used in funeral processions and related activities.

Requirements

• Caring, empathetic, and committed to providing best-in-class customer service.
• Available to work weekends, evenings, and days on an on-call basis as needed.
• Strong communication skills.
• High levels of compassion and integrity.
• Detail-oriented, positive attitude, and team-player approach.
• Ability to safely lift 75 pounds.
• Valid state-issued driver's license with a clear driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist the funeral director with tasks during funerals and visitations to help services run smoothly.
• Maintain a friendly attitude while offering assistance and guidance to people entering the location.
• Assist with moving the casketed deceased and related items in and out of visitation areas, the funeral home chapel, churches, and other service locations.
• Drive the hearse, family limousine, or other vehicles in the funeral cortege and for other funeral-related activities.
• Help set up and assist with viewings, funeral services, and memorial services.
• Transfer remains from the place of death to the funeral home.
• Perform other tasks associated with funeral and memorial services as assigned by management.
