About The Position

This Fundamental Trading Analyst supports MPC’s Global Supply, Trading, and Origination organization by delivering high-impact clean products and renewables market analytics that directly inform commercial decision making. The role is responsible for end-to-end fundamental analysis, including global supply-demand balances, vessel and fleet dynamics, flow patterns, and clean products and renewables economics, and converts complex market signals into timely, actionable insights embedded within trading workflows. This position is designed as a key analytics role with direct proximity to trading activity, requiring strong commercial judgment, analytical ownership, and close collaboration with traders, schedulers, and origination teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, Marine or related discipline required.
Three (3) or more years of related experience.
Strong proficiency in analytical modeling, scenario analysis, and visualization tools
Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to commercial stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of commodity and clean products and renewables supply-demand fundamentals, including production, refining, inventories, and global trade patterns.
Experience analyzing commodity or clean products and renewables market differentials, quality impacts, and regional pricing benchmarks
Exposure to clean products and renewables markets (tankers, dry bulk, or LNG/LPG) or similar physical logistics/supply chain analytics.
Familiarity with data visualization or analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
Experience working with large datasets (AIS, market data feeds, pricing services) and translating them into commercial insights.

Maintain global clean products and renewables supply‑demand and balance models, monitoring production, refining demand, inventory trends, and global trade flows
Analyze differentials, quality impacts, and arbitrage opportunities, providing proactive ad‑hoc analytics based on current market dynamics
Deliver timely insights and market intelligence to trading, scheduling, and origination teams to support commercial decision‑making
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across market databases, models, and reporting outputs
Provide regular market updates and forward‑looking analysis highlighting risks, opportunities, and structural shifts
Support Supply Trading and Origination in identifying new commercial opportunities and evolving market dislocations
Translate complex market dynamics into actionable strategies using modeling, visualization, and analytical tools
Distill complex analysis into clear, concise insights and communicate effectively with commercial and cross‑functional partners
