About The Position

A Paralegal will generally have at least three years of experience as a paralegal, with a portion of those years in the financial services industry. A Paralegal will have significant responsibility for the provision of day-to-day legal administration services to one or several clients. A Paralegal must demonstrate an ability to work with general direction from senior attorneys or a Paralegal Manager and must be adept at juggling priorities for multiple clients to meet deadlines based on changing client and department needs. In addition, a Paralegal must demonstrate a good working knowledge of the legal administration services provided to mutual fund clients.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience as a paralegal.
  • A portion of those years in the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work with general direction from senior attorneys or a Paralegal Manager.
  • Adept at juggling priorities for multiple clients to meet deadlines based on changing client and department needs.
  • Good working knowledge of the legal administration services provided to mutual fund clients.
  • Demonstrates high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Works collegially with other department members and is respectful of other department members.
  • Possesses strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Can handle multiple tasks and multiple priorities for various clients.
  • Identifies resources available and utilizes them effectively.
  • Establishes close working relationships with clients and provides high quality service to clients.
  • Exercises good judgment regarding when to ask questions and to raise issues with more senior staff.
  • Demonstrates independent follow through on issues and tasks.
  • Capable of independently producing high quality routine paralegal work with general supervision.
  • Effectively communicates status of projects to appropriate persons in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares Board meeting materials (agendas, memoranda, resolutions, regulatory updates) and preparation of Board packages to board members and other interested individuals prior to board meetings.
  • Drafts Board meeting minutes and resolutions for review by senior attorneys.
  • Prepares filings with the SEC (including annual updates to Registration Statements on Form N-1A, supplements, Form N-PX and Form N-CSR).
  • Maps and updates data on ProNavigator.
  • Maintains and adheres to corporate filings calendars and recurring board agendas
  • Coordinates with clients, outside counsels, State Street Financial Administration and other fund service providers with respect to fund issues.
  • Works at the general direction of a senior attorney in the delivery of legal administration services to clients.
  • May participate in special projects for which the problems and issues are clearly defined.
