About The Position

UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced Functional Test Lead for a hybrid role in Brooklyn, NY to support a large-scale legacy system replacement and modernization initiative within a complex pension administration environment. Active LinkedIn preferred. This role will lead and oversee all Functional User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, ensuring system functionality is thoroughly validated and aligned with business requirements. The ideal candidate will have (10) years of Quality Assurance and Software Testing experience, including at least four (4) years serving in a Test Lead capacity leading enterprise testing efforts, coordinating vendor testing teams, developing test strategies, managing defect lifecycles, and supporting modernization projects utilizing both traditional and AI-assisted testing methodologies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of Quality Assurance and Software Testing experience, including at least four (4) years serving in a Test Lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience leading vendor testing teams and coordinating complex Functional User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles.
  • Experience supporting legacy system replacement, modernization, or enterprise migration initiatives.
  • Strong ability to interpret business rules and actively participate in requirements gathering and Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions.
  • Extensive experience developing enterprise test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and testing documentation.
  • Experience supporting business-driven User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensuring comprehensive business-aligned test coverage.
  • Strong knowledge of AI-driven testing tools, test automation concepts, and test automation scripting languages.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Zephyr, and SharePoint.
  • Experience working with CRM platforms including Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Proven experience performing integrated and isolated testing while utilizing SQL and CRUD operations against large data sets to validate application functionality.
  • Experience defining project scope, reviewing technical specifications, establishing testing environments, prioritizing multiple initiatives, managing testing milestones, and driving projects through successful completion.
  • Experience working within Agile and other Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Expertise analyzing complex workflow diagrams and business process documentation to develop complete, accurate, and traceable end-to-end test scripts.
  • Strong requirements analysis and gap identification skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), business stakeholders, developers, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with API and Web Services testing.
  • Experience performing Performance and Load Testing.
  • Experience supporting Workflow Systems, Document Management Systems, and Document Scanning Processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP) certification or ISTQB Certification (CTFL, CTAL, or CTEL) preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting User Acceptance Testing within public pension administration systems strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise legacy system replacement and modernization initiatives by leading all Functional User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities throughout the system implementation lifecycle.
  • Responsible for ensuring comprehensive testing governance, coordinating vendor testing efforts, validating business requirements, and supporting the successful delivery of critical modernization milestones while maintaining high standards of quality and traceability.
  • Coordinate and oversee all Functional User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities supporting legacy system replacement and modernization initiatives.
  • Lead and oversee vendor testing activities to ensure compliance with business requirements, quality standards, project schedules, and delivery milestones.
  • Participate in Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions to gather business requirements, validate system functionality, and support solution development throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with business users, technical teams, project managers, and stakeholders to develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage execution of structured testing cycles, monitor testing progress, oversee defect tracking and resolution, and maintain complete testing documentation.
  • Utilize AI-assisted testing tools to improve testing efficiency, optimize workflows, and enhance overall testing effectiveness.
  • Administer and maintain Jira governance, ensuring testing assets, user stories, defects, and documentation remain organized, traceable, and properly managed.
  • Ensure consistency, completeness, traceability, and quality across all testing deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Validate business functionality through structured end-to-end, integrated, regression, and isolated testing activities.
  • Review business processes, workflow documentation, and technical specifications to ensure complete functional test coverage.
  • Coordinate defect triage meetings, monitor issue resolution, and verify successful remediation prior to production deployment.
  • Analyze testing metrics, identify project risks, recommend corrective actions, and provide regular status reporting to project leadership.
  • Facilitate communication between business stakeholders, vendors, developers, and project teams to ensure testing objectives are successfully achieved.
  • Support governance activities by maintaining testing standards, documentation, and quality assurance best practices throughout the modernization initiative.
