About The Position

Veterans First Initiative, LLC (VFI) is a U.S. Government Contractor and IT Services Integrator that delivers Network, Unified Communications, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity Engineering and Infrastructure Solutions on a global scale. VFI is certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). VFI seeks an experienced, professional Functional Systems Administrator (FSA) IV (Team Lead) to provide expert individual and supervisory IT services under VFI’s complex, multi-year contract to support intelligence training systems, programs, applications, and operations for the 315th Training Squadron/Plans, Programs, and Resources (315 TRS/XPS) and 313 TRS/XPS at Goodfellow AFB, TX. All candidates must possess a CURRENT active DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance. The FSA IV (Team Lead) will supervise and act as technical lead for a team of FSAs that serve as the focal point for all intelligence training applications and systems. The FSA IV and subordinate FSAs shall respond to user requests for assistance and provide support to end users/customers regarding hardware and software malfunctions. The FSA IV and subordinate FSA III/II personnel will maintain the technical infrastructure as required to meet business needs, with VFI corporate support and oversight. The FSA team will identify and resolve common problems, questions, or situations and provide support in a manner that minimizes interruptions to the customer’s ability to carry out the training mission. The FSA IV and FSA III personnel will provide hands-on training to instructors and other FSAs on intelligence applications, specialized computer software, and operating systems. The FSA IV will plan, coordinate, and install software applications and hardware peripherals on Windows, Unix, and Linux platforms. Work performed by the FSA IV will require access to classified and unclassified data, information, and spaces. The FSA IV will attend meetings at classified and unclassified levels and will provide reporting data to the Corporate Program Manager for CDRL production.

Requirements

  • At least ten (10) years of experience managing a team of IT services professionals and enterprise systems of similar scope and complexity.
  • Ability to manage and troubleshoot systems, platforms, and solutions while adhering to required security policies and protocols.
  • Knowledge of and experience with system documentation and organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience with current technology and practices, including applications and cybersecurity.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a professional demeanor and strong personal ethics.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to take ownership and complete assigned tasks.
  • Detail oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and with the ability to anticipate and provide solutions that result in gained efficiencies in business processes and improved customer service.
  • Ability to present and explain complex technical topics, problems and alternative solutions to interested parties of varying technical backgrounds.
  • IAT Level II Certification.
  • One of the following: Security+, Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP or GSEC.
  • CURRENT active DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and act as technical lead for a team of FSAs that serve as the focal point for all intelligence training applications and systems.
  • Respond to user requests for assistance and provide support to end users/customers regarding hardware and software malfunctions.
  • Maintain the technical infrastructure as required to meet business needs.
  • Identify and resolve common problems, questions, or situations and provide support in a manner that minimizes interruptions to the customer’s ability to carry out the training mission.
  • Provide hands-on training to instructors and other FSAs on intelligence applications, specialized computer software, and operating systems.
  • Plan, coordinate, and install software applications and hardware peripherals on Windows, Unix, and Linux platforms.
  • Develop and maintain system administration standard operating procedures, technical guides, and instructions.
  • Support the use of computer-based training products (i.e. computer-assisted instruction (CAI), interactive courseware (ICW), interactive multimedia instruction (IMI), and learning management systems (LMS)).
  • Maintain consolidated IMI project effort tracking spreadsheet to sync training requirements with outside development efforts and deliver/maintain all updates and new courseware created.
  • Provide operational support services including, but not limited to, systems administration, support of both legacy and new applications and systems in accordance with AFI 33-115, Network Operations, and DoDM 8140.03 Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program.
  • Serve as Cyber Security Liaisons (CSL) to submit, track, and report status on tickets in IAO Express and Remedy for EITaaS ServiceNow, NIPRNet, SIPRNet and other training networks to resolve and/or respond to computer issues and security group requests.
  • Ensure account management and email account support are provided for training networks and the LMS and primary support for the LMS, IMI delivery systems, and Tools/Systems of Record.
  • Be the subject matter expert (SME) on intelligence applications and ensure delivery of daily classroom support to instructors and students.
  • Deliver administration, hardware and software support, life cycle support, and maintenance services on GCCS-I3 server suite and client machines.
  • Attend meetings at classified and unclassified levels and provide reporting data to the Corporate Program Manager for CDRL production.
  • Ensure the build, test, capture, and deploy system baselines and images, to include, within a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment, including the Targeting Application Workstation (TAW) spiral load received from the PMO.
  • Ensure effective management of VMware vSphere Infrastructure and Desktop/End-user computing environments running the Tools/Systems of Record.
  • Ensure deployment of VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, VMware Dynamic Environment Manager, and NetApp storage, as required.
  • Ensure the set up, configuration and maintenance multiple components such as Dell VxRail Manager Suite, vCenter, vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), Virtual Desktop Provisioning, virtual machine templates, and TITAN.
  • Ensure timely and consistent management of backup and restore functionality on all intelligence training applications and systems.
  • Provide after-hours support, if requested.
