About The Position

Functional Family Therapist (Bilingual) for Urban Youth Alliance International, Inc. (www.bronxconnect.org) is a non-profit organization that serves justice-involved youth in the NYC area serving residents of the Bronx and Manhattan. This Functional Family Therapy Model is under the NYC's ATLAS Initiative to impact justice involved youth & families. The role involves providing primarily in-home family therapy in The Bronx and Manhattan to predominantly at-risk Black and Latino youth ages 11 to 18 who are at risk of being justice-involved. Some nights and weekends may be required depending on clients’ needs. The organization offers clinical supervision towards licensure.

Requirements

  • Individual therapy with youth and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques.
  • Candidate must be comfortable providing primarily in-home family therapy in The Bronx and Manhattan.
  • Therapy sessions are with predominately at-risk Black and Latino youth ages 11 to 18 who at risk of being justice-involved.
  • Some nights and weekends, depending on clients’ needs.
  • Spanish fluency required.
  • Master's (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, education, or other relevant human service profession preferred; required for site supervisor position.
  • Bronx and Manhattan residents strongly preferred.
  • Therapeutic/case management: 2 years (Preferred)

  • Ability to exhibit creativity and tenacity to engage clients.

  • Willingness to advocate for youth and family, belief in the capacity of people to grow and change.
  • Ability to be comfortable with cultural differences.
  • Willingness to commit to empowering families to solve their own problems.
  • Prioritizing to work with the families when they are available in their own homes.
  • Interact with referral sources such as Legal Aid Society, NYC Law Depart, schools, and BronxConnect programs to effective engage families in the FFT Model.
  • Interact with team members in community events.
  • Manage a caseload electronic and case files of up to 15 cases.
  • Timely recording progress notes as required by FFT on CSS system; data is regularly used to report to external stakeholders.
  • Provide "home-based" Functional Family Therapy to families, adhering to model fidelity requirements. FFT is NOT remote therapy, it is designed to be home-based, in the office or community-based.
  • Actively participate as part of a therapy team, including attending weekly team and individual supervision meetings.
  • Assist families by actively referring them to appropriate services and supports, and with both clinical and concrete services.
  • Willingness to travel to and from client family homes.
  • Participate in all FFT training, supervision, and consultation activities.
