About The Position

A growing family in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Full-Time Career Nanny to provide exceptional care for their young child. The family values active, engaged caregiving and is looking for a nanny who enjoys creating thoughtful activities and play opportunities. They prioritize outdoor time, curiosity, movement, imaginative play, and developmentally appropriate independence. The household is currently screen-free for the child, and the family wishes to maintain this approach. The ideal candidate is fun, energetic, warm, and engaging, with the stamina to keep pace with a growing family, while also being confident in navigating challenging moments calmly and establishing consistent routines. The preferred schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, guaranteeing approximately 50 - 55 hours per week. The family travels approximately once or twice per year and the nanny should be excited to travel with them and comfortable providing occasional overnight care at home as needed. The family is seeking someone as soon as possible but is focused on finding the right long-term fit.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license, strong driving experience, and clean driving record.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle is strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations as requested by the family.
  • Non-smoker.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Comfortable traveling for periods of up to approximately two weeks.
  • Comfortable providing occasional overnight care.
  • Comfortable working in a home with a small, friendly dog.
  • Able to provide outstanding professional references and successfully complete a background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of professional nanny experience strongly preferred.
  • Significant experience caring for infants, toddlers, and/or preschool-aged children.
  • Strong knowledge of child development and age-appropriate developmental milestones.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining consistent routines.
  • Professional experience caring for multiple young children or siblings close in age is strongly preferred.
  • High-energy, playful, engaging, and genuinely enthusiastic about spending time with children.
  • Creative and confident developing activities and enrichment independently.
  • Calm and capable of soothing, redirecting, and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Proactive, organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently.
  • Interested in outdoor play and comfortable spending meaningful time outside throughout the year.
  • Comfortable supporting a screen-free or highly screen-limited approach.
  • Excited by the opportunity to make a long-term commitment to a growing family.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, loving, and developmentally appropriate care.
  • Create engaging days centered around active play, exploration, reading, music, imaginative play, and age-appropriate learning.
  • Plan and set up thoughtful activities that support emerging developmental skills and interests.
  • Prioritize outdoor time and physical activity throughout the year.
  • Maintain established routines around meals, naps, activities, and transitions.
  • Support healthy sleep habits and maintain the child's established nap schedule.
  • Foster independence and encourage age-appropriate skills as the child grows.
  • Navigate tantrums, frustrations, and challenging developmental moments using calm redirection, connection, and consistent boundaries.
  • Maintain a screen-free environment for the child and model engaged, present caregiving.
  • Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the child.
  • Maintain child-related laundry, belongings, toys, supplies, and play areas.
  • Transport the child safely to outings, appointments, activities, and other destinations as needed.
  • Assist with occasional child- and household-related errands.
  • Communicate openly with parents regarding routines, development, milestones, and daily observations.
  • Travel domestically and internationally with the family approximately once or twice per year.
  • Provide occasional overnight care when needed.
  • Adapt responsibilities and routines as the family grows and additional children join the household.

Benefits

  • $35 - $40+/hour, depending on experience, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
  • Overtime paid in accordance with applicable wage and hour requirements.
  • Position will be paid through formal W-2 payroll.
