About The Position

The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) invites applications for a Full-time Faculty position in Creative Entrepreneurship. We invite applications from entrepreneurs in art and design who have a demonstrated commitment to education to join our faculty with a preferred start date of August 1, 2027. MICA’s Creative Entrepreneurship program offers a minor that prepares students to lead sustainable, impactful creative lives. This program blends studio practice with real-world entrepreneurial strategies, helping artists and designers turn their ideas into viable ventures. Through interactive, hands-on courses, students gain skills in marketing, budgeting, grant writing, social entrepreneurship, project management, contracts, and more—all essential for thriving in the creative economy. The Creative Entrepreneurship courses are open to all undergraduate and graduate students and are intended to supplement the curriculum in all other academic programs at the College. Students in these classes often work with real clients, offering opportunities to build a portfolio of meaningful, socially and economically valuable work. Many of the courses also intersect with the programming of the Ratcliffe Center for Creative Entrepreneurship (RCCE), which serves as a hub for MICA students & alumni to engage with programs that connect resources & training to grow creative ideas into viable businesses. These programs include the First Year Fellows in Creative Entrepreneurship, Art Market, the JUST/Start Idea Competition, the UP/Start Venture Competition, the E/Intern program, the Creative Entrepreneurship Innovation LaunchPad, and the Creative Futures Residency.
