About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is seeking a full-time Faculty member for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at its traditional ground campus in Phoenix, Arizona. This role involves providing program instruction with innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and industry trends. The faculty member will have the opportunity to work with both on-campus and online student populations, contributing to a thriving and diverse campus environment. The college offers a variety of programs including counseling, psychology, justice studies, history, and English literature. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision preferably from a CACREP-accredited program or related doctoral degree AND have been employed as full-time faculty member in a counselor education program before July 1, 2013.
  • Independently licensed as a professional counselor.
  • Maintain an active membership to a recognized professional counseling association (American Counseling Association, ACA preferred).
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully adapt to an e-learning environment.
  • Availability to provide 24-hour turnaround responses to student questions and concerns.
  • Willingness to work in an accelerated learning format.
  • Willingness to work in an e-learning environment with students on a daily basis.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Nice To Haves

  • Has experience conducting research or scholarly related activities.
  • Has experience in professional service and advocacy in the counseling field.
  • Knowledgeable about CACREP standards.
  • At least one year of experience teaching ground courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches one or more subjects within prescribed curriculum.
  • Prepares and delivers lectures to students.
  • Compiles bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
  • Stimulates class discussions.
  • Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others.
  • Remains current with new trends and developments in his/her field of expertise.
  • Student classroom load will be assigned based upon teaching qualifications and demonstrated classroom facilitation.
