About The Position

Grand Canyon University's College of Engineering and Technology is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach Civil Engineering for the traditional ground campus. This teaching-focused role is ideal for an industry expert who wants to share their expertise with undergraduate students. The position involves working collaboratively across colleges and with industry leaders to promote human flourishing. The university is particularly interested in applicants who can strengthen the diversity of the academic community and integrate faith.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
  • An active Professional Engineer License (PE) in any state.
  • An extensive, advanced, and current knowledge of Civil Engineering, specifically, in one of the following sub-disciplines – Traffic Engineering, Urban Planning, Water Resources, or a closely related field.
  • Able to teach related coursework in Civil Engineering.
  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values-based education from a Christian perspective.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, or similar, from a regionally accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of engineering teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, best teaching and administrative practices; or a record of excellence in teaching.
  • Understanding of the various methods of adult learning.

Responsibilities

  • Equip students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.
  • Teach undergraduate courses within the major, mentors and assists undergraduate majors in electrical engineering outside classroom hours.
  • Assist administration in driving curriculum design & development.
  • Work with leadership on strategic planning initiatives advancing engineering education.
  • Develop and administer forward-thinking short and long term plans for development and growth.
  • Assist the University in building a solid foundation for growth of engineering programs.
  • Foster and promote diversity and collegiality among faculty, students, and staff and is an advocate for change.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry to support internships, project collaborations, industrial mentoring and Capstone projects.
  • Assist the Dean in developing internal and external communities that promote the major field of study, college, and University.
