Requirements

  • Valid California Class A driver’s license and a good driving record as well as proof of safe vehicle operations required.
  • Medical certificate required.
  • Minimum 24 months of Class A driving experience
  • Minimum 24 months experience driving Tractor/Trailer trucks.
  • Needs to understand and be capable of adjusting trailer brakes (Class A requirement) and check wheel hubs for oil.
  • Weekends and Holidays availability
  • Knowledge of general arithmetic (adding/subtracting) required.
  • Proficiency in the English language

Responsibilities

  • Operate class A tractor according to Federal and State DOT guidelines, including but not limited to pulling single 28’ trailers, 53’ trailers, 48’ trailers, and double 28’ trailers.
  • Operate roll-off truck to haul compactor receiving bins and 40-yard bins when necessary.
  • Moves trailers; safely drives tractor and trailer, placing and/or exchanging trailers at donations sites and stores and at Headquarters as scheduled or needed.
  • Operate Bobtail truck for misc. runs based on business needs.
  • Responsible for accurate completion of trip sheets, inspection sheets, manifests, and other related paperwork.
  • Secures and handles goods by loading and off-loading materials and preparing load for transport.
  • Responsible for safety checks completes daily safety operational checklist prior to leaving terminal.
  • Monitors truck conditions and performance during operations and reports all problems immediately.
  • Performs minor repairs as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness inside and outside of truck.
  • Instructs new and learning Class A drivers in operational procedures, as directed and provides supervisor with assessments.
  • Performs all duties of a Tractor/Trailer truck driver as scheduled by the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • Must be available to work weekends.
