About The Position

We have an opening for a Full Stack Web Developer in the IT Solutions (ITS) Division in Computing, matrixed to the Recharge Services Division within the Technical Information Department (TID). The selected candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of external and internal websites. This position will work independently to develop website framework and content that meets the needs of external and internal collaborators, senior management, and administrative personnel. This position is in the IT Solutions Division within the LivIT Program in the Computing Directorate. This position offers a full-time off-site work schedule. You will collaborate and contribute through virtual interactions. Occasional on-site presence to meet business needs may be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of server architecture and troubleshooting, Linux or Apache. Knowledge of MySQL, HTML, CSS, Python, React, Angular, or JavaScript.
  • Sufficient experience using latest technologies and practices with a diverse set of software and applications, such as Confluence, Docker, Git, or Jira.
  • Sufficient experience designing, deploying, or managing solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Sufficient building sites and developing themes
  • Fundamental knowledge of current trends and best practices in web architecture and design such as performance, accessibility, UI/UX design, prototyping, scalability, compliance, or usability.
  • Sufficient experience contributing to projects while communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of server architecture and troubleshooting PHP.
  • Experience using latest technologies and practices with a diverse set of software and applications, such as MariaDB and MongoDB.
  • Experience building sites, developing themes, and creating/modifying modules for Content management Systems (CMS) such as Drupal, WordPress and Liferay.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with UX Designers to develop front end interfaces and UI interactions while ensuring best practices including responsive design.
  • Work with the team lead to develop and implement innovative ideas for continually improving user experience, code quality, and productivity.
  • Manage Linux servers running RHEL. Configure and maintain open-source tools and software such as Apache, NGINX, MariaDB, SMTP, DNS, and SSH.
  • Develop custom work-group applications to fulfill a variety of needs as directed by the client.
  • Partner with clients, graphic designers, and editors to define, develop, and establish objectives to meet the web specification requirements for projects, frequently responsible for customer contact and consultation.
  • Independently address technical issues and provide solutions related to institutional compatibility, support, and system needs.
  • Contribute to team solutions by assisting in addressing technical issues and developing solutions that support institutional compatibility and system needs.
  • Document technical solutions, system configurations, and development processes to support maintainability, knowledge sharing, and operational continuity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
