Full Stack Software Workflow Engineer (PHP)
About The Position
The Bioinformatics Engineer for Prism is a Full Stack Software Developer focused on advancing patient care through innovative software solutions. The successful candidate will implement, and maintain applications handling genetic data. Collaborating closely with the Data Science and Bioinformatics teams, the developer will work in an agile environment, contributing to the modernization of our systems while enhancing their own technical skills. The bioinformatics scientist will serve as a key technical contributor in the design, development, and implementation of bioinformatics pipelines and analytical methods to support MRD testing and other NGS assays. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in NGS data analysis, statistical modeling, and computational biology, with the ability to translate complex genomic data analysis to production clinical pipelines. This role will involve close collaboration with wet lab scientists, clinical operations teams, R&D teams, and software engineers to ensure high quality, accurate, reliable, and scalable solutions for patient testing and reporting. This professional will work in a hybrid capacity out of one of the following offices: Baltimore, MD, Secaucus, NJ, Marlborough, MA. Other locations nationwide are available.
Requirements
- 1+ Years of Relevant Experience.
- Proficiency in modern software development practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, version control, testing frameworks).
- Experience with PHP, Laravel, MySQL, REACT.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies.
- Test-driven development mindset and experience writing tests.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in full stack development, including front-end, back-end, and databases.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Adaptability to new tools and technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of the health industry or interest in genetics and bioinformatics.
- Experience implementing solutions in the cloud. AWS is preferred.
- Experience with designing and working with application programming interfaces (e.g. JSON based RESTful APIs).
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain software application.
- Ensure user requirements and performance standards are met.
- Deploy and manage applications for scalability and reliability.
- Participate in agile workflows, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
- Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality.
- Conduct peer code reviews to uphold development standards.
