Full Stack Software Engineer

HextronicsMiami, FL

About The Position

Hex is building the infrastructure for on-demand aerial data. We design and manufacture drone-in-a-box systems that automate repetitive drone operations, taking humans out of the loop so the people who depend on aerial data can move faster. We're a small, agile team, we move fast, take on extreme ownership, and build products in months, not years. We’re looking for a junior or mid-level full stack engineer to help build and maintain the software powering our drone operations platform. You’ll work across the stack — from database design to React interfaces — contributing to systems that control real hardware in the real world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 1–5 years of professional software development experience
  • Proficiency in Python for backend development
  • Experience building UIs with React
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)
  • Strong fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, REST APIs

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to drone systems, UAV platforms, robotics, or aerospace software
  • Familiarity with MAVLink or other drone communication protocols
  • Experience with real-time data systems or WebSockets
  • Background in embedded systems or hardware-adjacent software

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain full stack features across our web applications using Python and React
  • Design and manage relational database schemas, queries, and migrations
  • Collaborate with hardware and robotics teams to surface drone control to real-time web interfaces
  • Write clean, tested, and well-documented code
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
  • Debug issues across the full stack in a fast-moving environment
  • Work well with Artificial Intelligence to maximize functional output

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
  • The chance to work on software that controls physical systems in the field
  • A small, technical team where your work ships and matters
