About The Position

At Philz, we're all about Bettering Days; and as a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in making that happen as part of a collaborative engineering team focused on building thoughtful, scalable solutions that power both our digital experiences and our thriving retail business. Working under the guidance of our senior developer leads, you'll develop features for our web and mobile platforms. You'll write in JavaScript/React Native, PHP, and occasionally Ruby on Rails, and grow your database skills along the way. Our teams will return to a hybrid office environment in Long Beach, CA in Q1 of 2027.

Requirements

3+ years of professional full stack development experience
Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React Native, or experience with PHP/Laravel
Solid understanding of RESTful architecture and API design principles
Proficient with Git and established git workflows
Proficient in SQL, including PostgreSQL
Experience developing in test-driven environments
Experience with Agile development

Responsibilities

Design, build, and test front-end features, backend services, and system integrations that support our mobile and ecommerce platforms
Write and maintain high-quality, production-ready code that is reliable and scalable
Translate product and business requirements into well-structured, maintainable technical solutions
Support the upkeep of our databases and data models, ensuring performance and integrity
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers in an Agile environment to solve business challenges
Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives to ensure team efficiency and clarity of priorities
Manage tasks and timelines and work independently to move assignments forward
