Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent (required)
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering with backend and distributed systems focus
  • 7+ years of experience with Object-oriented and systems development languages, including: Java, Go (Golang), Python
  • Experience with Spring Boot and RESTful Web Services development
  • Modern databases — both relational (Postgres, SQL) and non-relational/distributed (MongoDB, Cassandra, or equivalent)
  • 3+ years of experience developing and deploying to cloud platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Helmfile
  • Familiarity with debugging problems using appropriate tools
  • Continuous integration/continuous delivery tools and pipelines, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Terraform
  • Experience with end-to-end testing tools

Nice To Haves

  • Deep experience with Go (Golang) microservices in high-throughput, production environments
  • Experience building and operating event-driven systems using Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration: Kubernetes, EKS, Docker, Helm
  • Experience with autoscaling patterns (e.g., KEDA) and distributed workload management
  • Proficiency in observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog — including metrics, dashboards, runbooks, and alerting
  • Familiarity with cloud governance, resource tagging, cost attribution, and audit logging across hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience with TypeScript and web-based UI development using React.js, Angular, or equivalent
  • Familiar with eXtreme Programming (XP) practices including Pair/Mob programming and Test-first/Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience with Jira, backlogs, iterations, user stories, or similar Agile tools
  • Highly effective in working with other technical specialists, Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, and business partners
  • Passion for learning and willingness to work in a pair programming environment
  • Understanding of fundamental data modeling

Responsibilities

  • Engineer high-quality, scalable backend microservices and distributed systems for various platforms
  • Design and build event-driven architectures and data pipelines to support real-time commercial fleet operations
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native applications using infrastructure-as-code tools and container orchestration platforms
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate services through message brokers and streaming platforms
  • Work with relational and non-relational distributed databases to support high-throughput, high-availability systems
  • Enhance testing platforms, improve test automation, and foster software craftsmanship
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of our solutions using observability and alerting tooling
  • Collaborate with multi-skilled teams working on commercial/fleet software solutions
  • Engage in Test-first Development, Test Driven Development
  • Cloud development using cutting-edge technologies and integrations with Ford enterprise systems
