About The Position

Stanford Federal Credit Union (SFCU) is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to help design, build, and maintain modern digital banking applications and integrations. This role is best suited for a mid-level engineer who enjoys hands-on development, learning new systems, and collaborating closely with business and technology partners. This position is hybrid, based onsite in Palo Alto, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience, including full-stack application development
  • Hands-on experience building applications using modern front-end frameworks such as React (Angular is a plus)
  • Hands-on experience building applications using back-end technologies such as Node.js or Python
  • Hands-on experience building applications using relational databases with SQL
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs with an understanding of secure coding practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and resolve application issues
  • Ability to work independently while managing priorities in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to financial services, banking, or credit union environments
  • Familiarity with legacy systems or languages (e.g., Perl)
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Jira

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable full-stack applications
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code across front-end and back-end components
  • Build and consume secure APIs and third-party integrations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in development and production environments
  • Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and IT teams to understand requirements and deliver practical technical solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established development and release processes
  • Contribute to technical documentation and team knowledge sharing
  • Support ongoing improvements and gradual modernization of existing applications
