About The Position

Develop and maintain websites and mapping applications for visualizing and distributing geospatial data. Develop Python scripts that produce geospatial data products. Support a diverse array of technologies including, but not limited to PHP, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML. Interact with a skilled web development team that supports the USGS EROS Integrated Science Applications Branch.

Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain credentials for facility access and user accounts
Minimally hold a software engineering or computer science bachelor’s degree
Minimum 3-5 years of recent and related work experience
Experience with web design, administration, and database-driven applications
Experience with JavaScript frameworks (such as React, Jquery, OpenLayers and Leaflet), and strong proficiency with HTML/CSS
Experience with Python and PHP
Experience with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Experience with security concepts
Experience with collaboration software
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Well versed in software engineering methodology and processes
Three years of continuous residency in the US for issuance of a Government Security credential

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with a cloud provider/concepts (like AWS or Azure)
Familiarity with Kubernetes or other container knowledge
Familiarity with requirements and design analysis
Experience with testing and configuration management tools such as Git
Experience with geospatial tools (commercial or open source), including analysis, visualization, or data handling workflows
Knowledge of OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS) and OGC APIs
Familiarity with projections, reference systems, and spatial data transformations
Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
