About The Position

At Netflix, the Identity Engineering team manages foundational infrastructure that underpins every member interaction, from profiles and settings to account decisions. The Account Consumer Experiences (ACE) team, within Account Entities & Lifecycle (AEL), empowers members to manage these features, focusing on Account Settings, Profile Preferences, and onboarding new members. This role involves building and evolving the Account Settings experience, including privacy and notification settings, profile preferences, viewing history, parental controls, and managed download devices. It also contributes to New Member Welcoming features like profile creation, account identifiers, streaming interests, and language preference. The role requires contributing across the full stack (TypeScript/React on the client, Java-based GraphQL services on the backend), partnering with over 8 stakeholder teams in a Hub-and-Spoke model, and collaborating with Product, Design, and Data Science to ship experiments and features. The engineer will also write well-tested, maintainable code and participate in technical discussions on system design and reliability.

Requirements

3–6+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems, ideally spanning both frontend and backend.
Comfortable owning a feature end-to-end, from UI through the APIs and services behind it.
Strong in JavaScript/TypeScript/React and Java.
Experience integrating frontend applications with backend APIs such as GraphQL or REST.
Good judgment on a high-trust, high-traffic surface — Account Settings touches nearly every Netflix member.
Communicate clearly, take ownership, and collaborate well across Product, Design, and Engineering.

Responsibilities

Build and evolve the Account Settings experience — privacy and notification settings, profile preferences, viewing history, parental controls, managed download devices, and more.
Own pieces of New Member Welcoming (onboarding): profile creation, account identifiers, streaming interests, and language preference.
Contribute across the stack, from client experiences through the backend services that power them leaning toward frontend or backend depending on team needs.
Partner with the 8+ stakeholder teams that build on Account Settings and Onboarding under ACE's Hub-and-Spoke model — helping set the shared design system and technical rails while giving partner teams room to ship their own features.
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data Science to ship experiments and features that improve how members manage their account and get started on Netflix.
Write well-tested, maintainable code, and participate in technical discussions on system design, reliability, and the long-term health of a shared, high-traffic surface.
