WheelhouseSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Wheelhouse is a fintech platform for the $500B+ flex rental space. Most specifically, we enable short & mid-length stay providers with 1 to 100,000+ listings to earn 20%+ more from their rental properties. In 2021, our target customer segment voted our platform “Innovation of the Year” at the Data & Revenue Management conference. This sentiment is shared by our customers, as evidenced by our platforms low churn and rapidly growing ARPU. In 2022, we closed a significant funding round, with participation from many of the best tech, travel & real estate investors. We’re lucky to have a long runway, low burn, and rapidly growing revenue. As a team, we enjoy shipping products our customers love, on time or ahead of schedule, while balancing work/life & having fun together. We’re best described as transparent & collaborative, and we strive to set our teammates up for success - both professionally & personally. We’re a remote-first, work-anywhere, and “yes - you should make time for that adventure/vacation” company, who believes that “healthy hustle” is the key to good growth. We’re experienced business & product builders who have founded multiple companies together, know our category extremely well, and recognize how rare/special it is to be perfectly positioned around a big opportunity with a very strong cross-functional team. We’d be eager to say hello and learn more about you!

Requirements

  • 4+ years of full-stack development experience, with a "T-shaped" skill set that is deep in Front-End technologies.
  • Expert-level fluency in modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.js, Typescript, Tailwind).
  • Solid understanding of backend patterns (ideally Ruby on Rails, Postgres) to effectively collaborate with backend engineers or self-serve.
  • A strong grasp of CSS and responsive design and ideally experience with data visualization libraries (e.g., Highcharts, D3.js, Recharts).
  • Ability to critique a design in Figma not just for feasibility, but for usability. You understand that the job isn't done until the user succeeds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, communicate asynchronously, and manage your own "healthy hustle."
  • You don't just build pages; you build scalable and reusable components that make the whole team faster.
  • You value independent work and ownership and communicate with business stakeholders for clarification.
  • You look at a complex pricing table and immediately start thinking about how to simplify it for the user without losing fidelity.
  • You care about the last 10%—the micro-interactions, the loading states, and the empty states that make a product feel polished.
  • You are excited to mentor backend-leaning colleagues on CSS grid or React hooks, and equally excited to learn from them about database optimization.
  • You work smart, communicate early, and believe that burning the midnight oil is rarely the answer to a hard problem.

  • Partnering early with our designer and product team to prototype features, ensuring technical feasibility without compromising UX.
  • Making key decisions on state management, data fetching strategies, and performance optimization to keep the app snappy.
  • Deploying code weekly (or daily) and sharing your wins with the team.
  • Understanding and contributing to our suite of products.
  • Actively deploying code to our production systems.
  • Driving development of our user interface for the next level of professional inventory.
