About The Position
Capital One is seeking a Full-stack Software Engineer to drive technology transformation and build solutions for complex business and regulatory needs. The role provides technical leadership across multiple teams and involves shaping system architecture, long-term technology direction, platform roadmaps, and shared services strategy. The engineer will lead end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale distributed and cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance requirements, while partnering with digital product managers, architects, and product leaders. The role also includes mentoring engineers, encouraging technology-community participation and learning, and delivering cloud-based solutions that support customer experiences. The work uses programming languages including Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript; open-source relational and NoSQL databases; Docker and Kubernetes; and AWS tools and services. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 9+ years of coding experience with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, and Scala.
- 5+ years of experience contributing to open-source frameworks.
- 5+ years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
- 5+ years of experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
- 4+ years of experience with databases and database management systems.

- 2+ years of experience using observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
- 1+ year of experience leading architectural design reviews and influencing enterprise-wide technical standards and methodologies.
- 1+ year of experience establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.
- 1+ year of experience implementing observability and reliability practices at scale.
- Experience leveraging modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.
- Experience influencing technology strategy at the portfolio or business-unit level.
- Experience with interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity beyond basic code completion.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives.
Responsibilities
