Full-Stack Engineer 4 (Python, Vue, Node, AWS)
About The Position
Capital One is seeking a Full-Stack Engineer to help drive a major technology transformation. The role leads a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems that address regulatory needs. The engineer collaborates with digital product managers and architects to deliver cloud-based solutions, define service boundaries and integration patterns, and develop reusable frameworks. The position provides technical leadership across Agile teams, establishes standards for design, development, and operational excellence, and promotes learning, mentoring, and participation in technology communities. It also involves identifying opportunities to refactor systems, reduce technical debt, improve performance, and influence long-term technology strategy in a “you build it, you own it” environment. The work may involve programming languages including Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript; open-source relational and NoSQL databases; Docker and Kubernetes; and AWS services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 7 or more years of coding experience with more than two of the following: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Vue.js, and Node.js.
- 3 or more years of experience with databases and database management systems.
- 3 or more years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- 4 or more years of experience contributing to open-source frameworks.
- 3 or more years of experience with front-end JavaScript, TypeScript, or React frameworks.
- 4 or more years of experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
- 3 or more years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.
- 3 or more years of experience using Git-based version-control systems such as Git, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
- 3 or more years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
- Experience using modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.
- At least 1 year of experience mentoring engineers and driving professional development within technical teams.
- At least 1 year of experience using observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
- Experience with interactive AI tooling that accelerates productivity using capabilities beyond basic code completion.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives.
- Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.
Responsibilities

- Identify improvement opportunities, implement targeted refactoring, reduce technical debt, and enhance system performance.
- Evaluate emerging tools and practices to influence long-term technology strategy.
