About The Position

Akira Technologies is seeking a Full-Stack Drupal Developer to support the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in rebuilding a public-facing Drupal website in AWS GovCloud (US). The project emphasizes cloud-first solutions, secure application development, and modernization of an existing Drupal implementation. The Full-Stack Drupal Developer will contribute across the application stack, including backend development, frontend theming, configuration management, containerized deployment, and production support. Experience reviewing, troubleshooting, and inheriting legacy Drupal implementations is highly desirable, as this is a core component of the project. This role supports US Government contract hence US Citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of recent professional Drupal experience, including substantial hands-on production experience with Drupal 10 and/or Drupal 11.
  • Demonstrated experience with: Custom module and theme development.
  • Demonstrated experience with: Composer-managed upgrades and dependency management.
  • Demonstrated experience with: Containerized deployment and security remediation.
  • Strong proficiency in PHP 8, Symfony, Twig, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL/MySQL, Composer, Drush, Drupal configuration management, and Git.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, containerized web/PHP applications, Linux, CI/CD, application logging, and container troubleshooting.
  • Experience with automated testing, secure coding, dependency management, performance tuning, and Section 508 accessible development.
  • Ability to document work clearly, manage a prioritized backlog, communicate technical risk, and collaborate with cloud, security, database, accessibility, and business stakeholders.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Drupal 10/11 applications supporting the OPM OIG public-facing website.
  • Review and assess inherited legacy Drupal implementations, identify technical debt, and recommend modernization approaches.
  • Develop custom Drupal modules, themes, and integrations using PHP, Symfony, Twig, and related technologies.
  • Manage Drupal configuration, Composer dependencies, upgrades, and security remediation.
  • Build and troubleshoot containerized web/PHP applications using Docker and Linux.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, application logging, deployment activities, and production troubleshooting.
  • Implement automated testing, secure coding practices, and performance improvements.
  • Develop accessible web experiences consistent with requirements.
  • Collaborate with cloud, security, database, accessibility, and business stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver prioritized enhancements.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, backlog items, and risk communications.
