About The Position

BigBear.ai is seeking a Full Stack Developer to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a component of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The role supports mission-critical applications for traveler processing, immigration management, and vetting at and between U.S. Ports of Entry. The developer contributes to the full software development lifecycle, building and sustaining full-stack applications in a dynamic 24x7 mission environment. The position requires strong front-end and back-end development experience and the ability to independently design and implement scalable, secure software solutions. The developer designs, develops, integrates, tests, deploys, and maintains applications using technologies such as Angular, React, TypeScript, Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, Python, REST and GraphQL APIs, microservices, and Kafka. Applications are deployed in AWS GovCloud and/or C2S environments, with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing supporting delivery. The role also includes troubleshooting, technical documentation, architecture discussions, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, production support, secure development and DevSecOps practices, and technical guidance for junior engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and 5 to 8 years of experience.
Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Strong front-end development experience with Angular, React, and TypeScript.
Experience with Node.js and/or Python for back-end development.
Strong experience developing REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
Experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
Experience with Kafka or other distributed messaging/event-streaming technologies.
Experience with AWS, preferably AWS GovCloud and/or C2S.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with automated testing and software integration.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to obtain and maintain the required government clearance/background investigation.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, DevOps engineers, product owners, and other technical stakeholders.
Support software integration, deployment, monitoring, and production operations.
Apply secure software development and DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior software engineers.
Participate in Agile and/or DevSecOps development environments.
Perform other related software engineering duties as assigned.
