Responsibilities

  • Acts as technical expert for all lab techniques and responsibilities
  • Provides oversight for operation and maintenance of highly technical equipment
  • Provides inputs to experiment design and execution for material properties and processes
  • Develops methods, tools and techniques to improve processes in the lab
  • Provides inputs to the writing of IDs and IPs
  • Makes recommendations for purchasing new equipment, including identifying vendors, collecting quotes and tracking orders
  • Troubleshoots process and equipment issues and oversees implementation of corrective actions
  • Conducts day-to-day problem solving for research projects
  • Tests feasibility of products
  • Documents data, maintains lab books, writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and reports
  • Works with customers to understand their needs or requirements to run and test samples
  • Accesses, analyzes and presents data at team meetings
  • Functions as a team member or team leader on focused projects
  • Trains and coaches new personnel on equipment and processes
  • May be asked to participate in developing a new process or machine to improve the current process
