About The Position

BAE Systems is looking for a Full Stack Developer to develop, secure, operate, deliver and maintain a Federal Government Web Site. This role involves managing both frontend and backend aspects of web applications, ensuring seamless integration and functionality throughout the development lifecycle. The developer will design and develop user-facing interfaces, build and maintain server-side logic, create APIs, manage server infrastructure, and ensure secure and efficient data processing. Responsibilities also include designing, implementing, and managing databases, developing and integrating RESTful APIs, automating deployment processes, managing cloud infrastructure, and implementing CI/CD pipelines. A key aspect of the role is implementing security best practices, conducting security audits, and resolving bugs or performance issues. The developer will also write and execute tests, collaborate with designers, product managers, and stakeholders, and stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends. Optimization for various platforms, devices, and operating systems, with a focus on mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility, is essential. Version control and codebase integrity are also important.

Requirements

5+ years with React (JavaScript/TypeScript), HTML5, CSS3 - component design, state management, responsive UI, and accessibility (WCAG 2.1/Section 508).
3-5 years with Node.js (or equivalent .NET/Java) - building RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization, and secure data handling.
Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2017 (T-SQL, performance tuning, migrations, backups).
Hands-on with IIS 7+ and Akamai CDN configuration.
Experience on Azure - App Service, Azure Functions, ARM/Terraform, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
Proficient with Git (CLI) and pipeline design using Azure DevOps (or GitLab CI).
Security fundamentals: Secure coding practices, authentication/authorization, data encryption.
508 / Accessibility: Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG 2.1; familiarity with accessibility testing (e.g., axe, WAVE).
Automated testing: Unit, integration & end-to-end testing (Jest, Cypress, Selenium, or similar).
Active Top-Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

Containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash) for environment provisioning.
Monitoring & observability (Azure Monitor, Splunk, New Relic).
Prior federal-government web experience (FEMA, DHS, etc.).
Additional security certifications (SEC+, CISM, CEH).
Infrastructure as Code beyond ARM (Terraform, Bicep).
Familiarity with the US Web Design System (USWDS) or similar design frameworks.
Ability to mentor junior staff and lead code review sessions.

Implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data encryption, to protect applications from vulnerabilities.
Conduct security audits and code reviews in accordance with industry best practices.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve bugs or performance issues to ensure a smooth user experience.
Write and execute tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end) to maintain code quality.
Work closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
Effectively communicate and participate in a collaborative team align technical efforts with project goals.
Staying updated with the latest technologies, frameworks, and industry trends.
Continuously improve skills and explore innovative tools to enhance development practices.
Ensure applications are optimized for various platforms, devices, and operating systems, focusing on mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility.
