About The Position

We are seeking a Full Stack Developer for a Contract to Hire position lasting 6+ months. The role involves designing, developing, and supporting scalable services using Java and Python, deployed and operated on AWS. Responsibilities include building and maintaining automation and tooling to improve environment readiness, implementing CI/CD improvements, troubleshooting complex issues across AWS and distributed systems, modernizing existing applications, producing operational documentation, and collaborating with partner teams. The role also requires upholding strong engineering standards and mentoring other engineers.

Requirements

Significant applied software engineering experience delivering production systems (design, build, deploy, support).
Strong hands-on AWS experience building and operating services (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, RDS).
Strong hands-on Java experience (service development, debugging, and production support).
Strong hands-on Python experience (automation, tooling, diagnostics, integrations).
Experience with CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker) and implementing automated validation and quality gates.
Strong troubleshooting skills across application and infrastructure boundaries; able to isolate issues using logs/metrics and drive root-cause fixes.
Strong ownership mindset: independently drives ambiguous problems from discovery plan alignment execution measurable outcomes.
Strong communication and collaboration skills; proactively engages stakeholders to unblock delivery.

Nice To Haves

Observability expertise (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch).
Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and operational automation.
Experience modernizing applications and improving engineering productivity using tools such as GitHub Copilot.
Exposure to LLM/AI integrations (e.g., AWS Bedrock, OpenAI APIs) and building reusable components.
Experience in large-scale enterprise environments and regulated SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support scalable services using Java and Python, deployed and operated on AWS.
Build and maintain automation and tooling (Java/Python) to improve environment readiness and consistency (health checks, dependency validation, configuration verification, smoke checks).
Implement and operate CI/CD improvements (pre-flight checks, quality gates, automated verification) to reduce failures, rework, and time-to-unblock.
Troubleshoot complex issues across AWS and distributed systems (IAM/permissions, networking/connectivity, secrets/configuration, dependency failures) and drive resolution to closure.
Modernize existing Java/Python/AWS applications to improve reliability, maintainability, and engineering velocity; contribute to architecture and design artifacts as needed.
Produce and maintain runbooks, operational documentation, and self-service guidance to reduce tribal knowledge and improve supportability.
Collaborate with partner teams (platform/SRE, security, dependency service owners, product teams) to gather requirements, align on solutions, and deliver high-quality outcomes under changing priorities.
Uphold strong engineering standards (code quality, testing discipline, security, resiliency) and mentor other engineers as needed.
