About The Position

AlixPartners is hiring a full-time contract developer for its Application Development and Platform Support team in Southfield, Michigan. The role is a six-month contract with potential to extend and reports to the Application Development & Platform Support Manager. The developer will build bespoke applications and websites for global use and support, enhance, maintain, and upgrade custom-developed applications. Paid relocation and benefits are not available for this contract position.

The role works with Business Analysis, Project Management, Business Relationship Management, application support, IT leadership, and business staff to deliver development capabilities, improve development processes and tools, and support enterprise application changes and integrations. AlixPartners uses a hybrid work model, with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote work options Monday and Friday. Core working hours are generally 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with willingness to work outside normal U.S. business hours as project needs arise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information systems, business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• At least three years in application analysis, development, or a related field, with significant exposure to software development best practices and processes.
• Experience with the Microsoft technology stack (.NET) and Microsoft Azure Cloud Services.
• Experience prompting and evaluating LLMs, including Claude, Copilot, and Gemini, few-shot prompting, and structured outputs.
• Working knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), grounding strategies, common LLM failure modes such as hallucinations, prompt injection, and data leakage, and Agentic AI.
• Ability to translate business requirements into prompt strategies and product requirements with measurable outcomes for quality, safety, speed, and cost.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with varied personnel styles and gain buy-in for holistic strategies across organizational levels and functions.
• Process- and detail-oriented, able to grasp the big picture, and able to collaborate creatively and innovatively.
• Clear verbal and written English communication skills and ability to collaborate within and across teams.
• Willingness to work outside normal U.S. business hours as project or business needs arise.
• Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment, and to sit or stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on UI/UX development experience, including React JS, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Analysis, Project Management, and Business Relationship Management teams, including application support, to define, develop, and deliver new capabilities.
• Contribute to incorporating application development tools, techniques, and processes into architecture development and design efforts.
• Automate and implement key development processes and promote adoption of application management and monitoring tools.
• Collaborate on development plans for managing and monitoring application development, support, and maintenance initiatives.
• Support Change Management processes related to development and upgrades of enterprise applications and integrations.
• Communicate project and support information to IT leadership and business staff in a polished, professional manner.
• Support, enhance, maintain, and upgrade custom-developed applications, and develop bespoke applications and websites.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as identified.
