The Department of Human Genetics at Emory University invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Full Professor. The successful candidate will be an accomplished, internationally recognized investigator with an outstanding research program in human genetics and genomics, particularly noncoding and regulatory genomics and their application to understanding human disease. The faculty member will maintain and expand a highly innovative, externally funded research program focused on how genetic variation in the noncoding genome contributes to human disease. An area of particular interest is the relationship between genetic risk for neuropsychiatric disorders and underlying molecular and cellular disease mechanisms. The program should integrate advanced genomic and computational approaches to define the regulatory architecture of the human genome and translate genetic discoveries into biological mechanisms. Potential approaches include chromosome-conformation and functional genomic technologies, such as Hi-C, to study three-dimensional genome organization and regulatory interactions in the human brain. The work may integrate these maps with human genetic and genomic data, including common variants associated with neuropsychiatric disorders, to identify functional regulatory elements, target genes, and molecular pathways affecting brain development and function. Opportunities include emerging single-cell and spatial genomics, multiomics, functional genomics, and computational and AI-enabled analysis. Most of the faculty member's effort will be devoted to maintaining and expanding their research program, securing extramural research support, publishing high-impact scholarship, and developing collaborations within the Department of Human Genetics and the broader Emory research community. The position also contributes to the academic missions of the Department and School of Medicine through teaching, service, and mentorship, including graduate education, committee service, and mentorship of trainees and junior faculty. As a senior department member, the successful candidate will help foster junior investigators' career development and strengthen collaborative and interdisciplinary research in human genetics and genomic medicine. The candidate will join a collaborative environment with strengths in human genetics, genomics, neurogenetics, computational and quantitative genomics, functional genomics, and genomic medicine. The position offers an opportunity to build a nationally and internationally recognized research program while contributing to the scientific leadership and growth of the Department.
