The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and the Lee J. Styslinger Jr. College of Engineering at The University of Alabama invite applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Full Professor. Candidates with particular research emphasis and interests in the areas of solidification science and metal casting are of particular interest and thus are strongly encouraged to apply. The department offers a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering and has active M.S. and Ph.D. programs. Faculty are expected to contribute to teaching, research, and service, including developing and leading extramurally funded research groups, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and fostering a collegial community. The position requires a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or a closely related discipline, a strong record of research and publications, experience in education and professional service, 10+ years of experience as a tenure-track/tenured faculty member at a leading R1 institution, effective communication skills, and the ability to sustain a quality research program and teach effectively at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants must also meet university criteria for Full Professor.
