About The Position

As a key member of the Finance team this position performs the accurate and timely accounting tasks related to general ledger maintenance and reconciliation, grant contract compliance, cost distribution and allocation plan maintenance, financial reporting, and governmental reporting. This position has the responsibility of ensuring all cost-based transactions follow GAAP and single audit standards. This position maintains and documents procedures by recommending policy and procedure updates that follow industry best practices, FASB accounting standards, and other regulatory and industry guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Five years of accounting experience.
  • Some accounting experience may be substituted with applicable healthcare/non-profit experience or additional education.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience using accounting software.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, fixed asset management, general ledger reconciliations, and federal tax reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with current contract requirements and prepare grant program billings, reconciliations, and financial statements for various reporting periods.
  • Act as a liaison between external program administrators and internal program directors.
  • Reconcile GL accounts and ensure that all entries and transactions are accurate and reported in compliance with relevant accounting standards and government regulations.
  • Process and complete monthly closing allocations according to the monthly closing schedule.
  • Maintain and reconcile the self-funded medical benefit plan accounting records.
  • Assist in coordination of agency audits and outside monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain software reporting functionality for the Finance office.
  • Perform standard and ad hoc reporting using Excel and other application report writers as necessary.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and corrections.
  • Ensure accuracy of accounting data.
  • Assist in preparing year-end and month-end financial statements, including closing journal voucher
  • Assist in developing, updating and implementing departmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with FBH policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the back-up to other Accountants and Accounting Specialists as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with all FBH staff.
  • Maintain and enhance customer service to ensure that both external and internal customers of FBH have a positive experience of FBH.
  • Other duties as assigned.
