About The Position

The Fuels Handling Equipment (FHE) Technician provides integrated logistics support to optimize the functional maintenance, accountability, and readiness of War Reserve Materiel (WRM) fuels assets in a Unity Type Code (UTC) configuration. This role ensures that all assigned assets are meticulously inspected, stored, and maintained to seamlessly activate and sustain contingency base operations and exercise support, which includes managing the out-load and reception of equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of job-related experience.
  • Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Must have experience in the installation, operation, inspection, maintenance, and/or repair of fuel delivery systems.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, trucks, forklifts, fuel pumps, hand tools, etc.
  • Must be physically able to operate motor vehicles.
  • Ability to read, speak and write English.
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust U.S. Government Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Completed Fuels Apprentice Course (J3ABR2F031 00AB), military or commercial equivalent.
  • Completed FORCE Course (J3AZR2F051 05AB) or 5 years’ experience.
  • National Petroleum Management Association Certified Petroleum Journeyman (CPJ) or equivalent certification is acceptable in place of fuels apprentice training.

  • Government will schedule attendance at FORCE Course within 12 months of employment, if necessary

Responsibilities

  • Services and functionally tests the following FHE after completion of repairs, prior to releasing for use, or upon return to storage: R-11 Refueling Units, R-18 Pumping Units, R-19 Filter Separators, R-20 Servicing Platforms, R21 Plumbing Assemblies, TASS PMU-27 Pumping Cart, ABFDS and Non-ABFDS Fuel Bladders
  • Prepares FHE for storage IAW specific end-item technical data
  • Performs periodic visual and functional inspections on active storage equipment
  • Performs hydrostatic hose testing
  • Maintains and monitors the Shelf-life program for all FHE parts (hoses, valves, seals, and any other items or material that have a shelf-life requirement)
  • Performs inventory of RSPs and UTC FHE kits
  • Performs all other work as required by the section or program
