About The Position

Under minimal supervision, the Fuel Truck Driver ensures the safe and efficient loading and delivery of hazardous materials. This role requires the physical and mental ability to operate a commercial fuel truck/trailer safely in various traffic, weather, and timing conditions, adhering to all applicable laws and company procedures. The driver is responsible for inspecting assigned vehicles, understanding load rack operations and delivery site layouts, and ensuring proper loading and unloading according to company policy and D.O.T./Environmental guidelines. They must utilize all available resources to ensure correct product delivery to customer storage tanks and locations, confirm dispatched quantities using automated inventory management systems, and accurately document tank opening/closing, product, and water levels on the customer Bill of Lading. Identifying and notifying appropriate personnel of emergency matters and discrepancies requiring corrections is also a key responsibility. The position also involves understanding load rack procedures at outside supply points and meeting all physical and mental demands of the job.

  • Physical strength to lift approximately 50 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Ability to work 10-hour shifts or longer if required.

  • Possesses general familiarity with Company operating guidelines, procedures, and standards.

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations for truck operators.
  • Possess valid State of Hawaii driver's CDL license with hazmat endorsements and TX qualifications.
  • Have or able to acquire TWIC card.
  • Qualified to drive tractor and semi-trailer and/or doubles.

  • Two years driving experience delivering petroleum products.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and efficient loading and delivery of hazardous materials.
  • Operate a commercial fuel truck/trailer in a safe and expert manner in any traffic, weather and timing.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all applicable laws and company procedures and comply with them at all times.
  • Inspect assigned vehicle prior to and at end of shift; report any mechanical deficiencies to the appropriate persons.
  • Maintain a full understanding of load rack operations.
  • Maintain a full understanding of delivery site location tank layouts and truck offloading procedures.
  • Ensure that the truck is loaded and unloaded within company policy as well as D.O.T./Environmental guidelines.
  • Utilize all resources available (dispatch, site maps, tank labeling, consult with senior personnel, etc,) to ensure that the correct products are delivered to the correct customer storage tanks and locations.
  • Utilize the delivery site’s automated inventory management system (Insight 360. Fuelquest,, Smartank etc.) to confirm, whenever possible, that the dispatched quantity will fit safely prior to loading.
  • Maintain a full understanding of a transport Bill of Lading and advise the appropriate person(s) of any discrepancies requiring corrections.
  • Identify Emergency Matters; and notify the appropriate personnel as necessary.
  • Document tank opening / closing; product and water levels on the customer BOL.
  • Prior to starting a delivery, use the opening product levels to perform calculations to ensure the quantity shown on the BOL will fit.
  • Post delivery, use the opening and closing product levels, to perform calculations to ensure that the quantities shown on the BOL were completely and correctly delivered.
  • Maintain a working understanding of load rack procedures/policies at outside supply points for loading of product not carried at Aloha Petroleum terminals.
  • Meet all physical and mental demands of the job.
  • Complete a Daily Truck Inspection Report.
  • Complete a Driver’s Daily Shift Report.
  • Maintain a record of daily/weekly on duty hours in accordance with D.O.T. guidelines.
  • Complete daily timekeeping requirements.
  • Complete work as assigned.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Take and pass - DOT Drivers Physical (usually every 2-years).
  • Maintain all Hazmat certifications (usually every 3-years).
  • Attend Driver Improvement Program training (usually once per year).
  • Pass required Drug and Alcohol Testing.
  • Perform other duties/jobs as assigned by the Fleet Supervisor.
