About The Position

Under minimal supervision, this role ensures the safe and efficient loading and delivery of hazardous materials. The driver must possess the physical and mental ability to operate a commercial fuel truck/trailer safely in various conditions, with a thorough knowledge of applicable laws and company procedures. Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, understanding load rack operations and delivery site procedures, ensuring compliance with D.O.T./Environmental guidelines, accurate product delivery, managing inventory systems, handling Bills of Lading, identifying and reporting emergencies, and documenting delivery details. The role also involves daily reporting, maintaining records of on-duty hours, and periodic attendance at safety meetings and training programs.

  • Availability to work on weekends, nights, overtime and holidays as may be required
  • Hazardous material training.
  • DOT regulations for truck operators.
  • Possess valid State of Hawaii driver’s CDL license with hazmat endorsements and TX qualifications.
  • Qualified to drive tractor and semi-trailer and/or doubles.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial fuel truck/trailer in a safe and expert manner in any traffic, weather and timing.
  • Inspect assigned vehicle prior to and at end of shift; report any mechanical deficiencies to the appropriate persons.
  • Understand load rack operations.
  • Understand delivery site location tank layouts and truck offloading procedures.
  • Ensure that the truck is loaded and unloaded within company policy as well as D.O.T./Environmental guidelines.
  • Use all resources available to ensure that the correct products are delivered to the correct customer storage tanks and locations.
  • Utilize the delivery site’s automated inventory management system to confirm, whenever possible, that the dispatched quantity will fit safely prior to loading.
  • Understand a transport Bill of Lading and advise the appropriate person(s) of any discrepancies requiring corrections.
  • Identify Emergency Matters; and notify the appropriate personnel as necessary.
  • Document tank opening / closing; product and water levels on the customer BOL.
  • Perform calculations using opening product levels to ensure the quantity shown on the BOL will fit prior to starting a delivery.
  • Perform calculations using opening and closing product levels to ensure that the quantities shown on the BOL were completely and correctly delivered post delivery.
  • Have a working understanding of load rack procedures/policies at outside supply points for loading of product not carried at Aloha Petroleum terminals.
  • Complete a Daily Truck Inspection Report.
  • Complete a Driver’s Daily Shift Report.
  • Maintain a record of daily/weekly on duty hours in accordance with D.O.T. guidelines.
  • Complete daily timekeeping requirements.
  • Complete work as assigned.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Take and pass DOT Drivers Physical (usually every 2-years).
  • Maintain all Hazmat certifications (usually every 3-years).
  • Attend Driver Improvement Program training (usually once per year).
  • Pass required Drug and Alcohol Testing.
  • Perform other duties/jobs as assigned by the Fleet and Logistics Supervisor.
