About The Position

The Fuel Tank Filler fuels Hy-Vee tractors at the fuel island and reefer trailers on the lot. The role also inspects vehicles, documents worn or broken parts, performs minor repairs, fills forklift propane cylinders from a bulk tank, and follows DNR and EPA guidelines for handling diesel fuel and cleaning up spills. The employee maintains accurate records of work performed and parts used, reports to work as scheduled and on time, and may perform other related tasks, including maintaining fuel-island supplies and receiving fuel deliveries.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Zero to one year of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions and deal with a few concrete variables.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count, and record.
• Ability to exert 50 pounds of force occasionally and 25 pounds frequently to move objects.
• Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Visual ability from 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more, including depth perception and field of vision, with or without correction.

Responsibilities

• Fuel Hy-Vee tractors at the fuel island and reefer trailers on the lot.
• Inspect vehicles, document worn or broken parts, and make minor repairs.
• Fill forklift propane cylinders from a bulk tank.
• Follow DNR and EPA guidelines for handling diesel fuel and cleaning up spills.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
• Report to work when scheduled and on time.
• Perform minor repairs to fueling equipment.
• Clean company vehicles, the fuel island area, and windshields.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies for drivers at the fuel island.
• Receive fuel deliveries and sign bills of lading.
• Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
