About The Position

This role involves performing a variety of functions on fleet vehicles, equipment, and industrial machinery, adhering to company policies, and all relevant regulations. Key duties include operating a refueling tanker, utilizing specialized computer fuel management equipment, checking and topping off refrigerated trailer fluid levels, maintaining fuel logs, safely refilling the fuel tanker, assisting in bulk refueling, conducting fuel audits, and cleaning/detailing equipment. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Must not have one out-of-service order violation within the previous three years (when driving a CMV)
  • Must not have one prohibited item violation for alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs found in a CMV within the previous three years
  • Must not have two moving violations/citations (excluding any violations specifically covered in this posting) within the previous three years
  • Must not have a second occurrence or combination of a major traffic offense and out-of-service order violation
  • Must have a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) evaluation before the start date in the position if a voluntary admission for alcohol or drugs was made while in a non-Class A CDL position within the previous three years
  • Must not have an alcohol result of .02 to .039 (when driving any vehicle for Publix business) within the previous three years
  • Must not have one of the following: involuntary admission for alcohol or drugs; unacceptable drug result on a Publix or company-sponsored drug test (while in a Class A CDL position)
  • Must not have two voluntary admissions for alcohol or drugs (while in a Class A CDL position)
  • Must not have failed to report any of the following while in a Class A CDL position: DUI, DWI, operating under the influence or while intoxicated (according to state law); refusal to test (drug or alcohol); out-of-service order violation for a CMV (issued by Publix or law enforcement)
  • Must not have failed to report any of the following while in a Class A CDL position within the previous three years: any citation; license suspension, revocation, or reinstatement; disqualification from operating a CMV; accident; hours-of-service violation
  • Must not have any of the following within the previous three years: two Class II accidents; two chargeable accidents; or any combination of these accidents resulting in a total of two
  • Must not have more than three suspensions or other sanctions prohibiting the individual from operating motor vehicles within the previous three years
  • Must not have two hours-of-service violations within the previous six months or three hours-of-service violations within the previous three years
  • Must not have any of the following within the previous 2 years while working: dock/trailer safety violation; Lock-Out/Tag-Out violation; equipment modification violation; or violation for bypassing safety devices
  • For previous violations related to drug or alcohol issues, the individual must have seen a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), completed drug and alcohol education classes and any treatment recommended by the SAP, obtained a certificate of completion, and submitted to and passed all follow-up testing.
  • Must obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) within two weeks of accepting the contingent job offer
  • Must complete training and obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 90 days of his or her start date in the position, unless extended by the Director of Transportation and Maintenance
  • Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical (including a drug test) for intrastate drivers within two weeks of accepting the contingent job offer (additional time may be provided if a physical condition is correctable)
  • Current Deerfield Distribution associate

Responsibilities

  • Performing a number of functions on a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment; as well as industrial equipment; according to company policy; federal, state, and local regulations; and his or her own knowledge of the equipment
  • Driving a refueling tanker using specialized computer fuel management equipment to locate trailers for fueling
  • Checking refrigerated trailer fluid levels, adding fluids as needed
  • Keeping fuel logs
  • Refilling the fuel tanker using specialized safety equipment
  • Assist in bulk refueling process
  • Conduct fuel audits
  • Clean and detail equipment
