About The Position

The Fuel Manager is responsible for establishing and achieving fuel margin plan targets, developing strategies to maximize fuel margin, and overseeing retail pricing strategies. This role involves analyzing market conditions, managing fuel strategies, developing supplier and carrier relationships, and coordinating fuels objectives with other department initiatives. The Fuel Manager also maintains the Fuels Department budget, recommends capital improvements, and develops initiatives related to payment systems.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of petroleum industry experience required, including management responsibility.
  • Strong managerial and leadership competencies required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products with knowledge to develop and use other software tools.
  • Limited travel requiring occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and achieve fuel margin plan targets, including creating models to project and grow customer base and developing strategies to maximize fuel margin.
  • Meet profit targets by analyzing and evaluating market conditions, margins, sales volumes, and competitive activity.
  • Oversee retail pricing strategies and execution to ensure consistency and compliance of pricing at site/product level.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Develop and manage all fuel strategies (site, market, product, brand, and division), including supply and carrier relationships and Circle K fuel and major brand marketing programs.
  • Hire, develop, and train the fuel team.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, carriers, and terminal/pipelines to achieve best-in-class contracts.
  • Negotiate fuel contracts with vendors and communicate contract information as required.
  • Coordinate fuels objectives with other department initiatives to optimize store performance.
  • Maintain and control the Fuels Department budget by analyzing marketing projections and historical data, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Recommend capital improvements to maximize fuel contribution to store profitability.
  • Develop and implement initiatives related to payment systems, including fleet card sales and administration.
