About The Position

The Fuel Driver will be responsible for operating a tractor-trailer combination to transport fuel to customer sites and AFD-owned card locks and storage. The shifts will either be early mornings or afternoons. Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 or Class 3 Driver’s License.
  • Minimum 2 years of Class 1 or Class 3 experience; willing to train a successful candidate.
  • Experience with off-road, mountain, and winter driving.
  • Basic knowledge of apps on the phone and e-logs.
  • Applicants are required to submit a Commercial Drivers Abstract within the last 30 days.
  • High school education.
  • Pre-employment checks including a criminal record check and a 50 Lb. Fitness testing, Drug & Alcohol testing, and verification of employment references.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe handling of fuel loading and unloading, as well as fuel extraction and tank demobilization, while applying safe practices and ensuring compliance with all applicable acts and safety regulations.
  • Conducting pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
  • Wheel-to-wheel refueling of equipment from the fuel truck.
  • Following all legislation, including hours of service, occupational health and safety, and transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Maneuvering trucks into proper positions and handling minor roadside repairs (e.g., lights, fittings, airlines).
  • Reporting vehicle defects, accidents, and traffic violations.
  • Ensuring load-related documentation is complete and accurate, including driver logs and bills of lading.
  • Communicating effectively with customers, co-workers, and officials.
  • Delivering products and paperwork in a timely, courteous manner.
  • Inspecting site tanks for damage or faulty equipment.
  • Maintaining vehicle cleanliness, greasing, and tire chain upkeep.
  • Completing necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Willingness to train and mentor others.
  • Complete and scan in all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. May include, but not limited to, Driver daily logs, TDG documentation including fuel lading forms (declining balance), FLHA's bills of lading, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
