The Fuel Distribution Systems Operator receives, stores, transfers, and issues petroleum. This role prepares and checks receiving documents, connects lines, grounding wires, and loading and offloading arms or hoses. The operator visually inspects each system prior to the first use of each day and ensures systems not being used are inspected at least once every seven days. Responsibilities include gauging tanks for water, temperature, and fuel levels, checking pumping systems for correct operating pressure or unusual noises, and performing operator inspections on fuel and distribution systems. The role also assists in the maintenance of the loading and offloading area, working within a framework of established DLA policies and procedures, or other governing supply management guidelines.
