About The Position

The Fuel and Lube Truck Driver - Oiler - CDL performs skilled tasks in the preventative maintenance of all fleet vehicles and heavy machinery used by the company. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational readiness of the company's fleet and heavy machinery through diligent preventative maintenance. The position requires a strong commitment to safety and adherence to all company policies and procedures. The driver will be responsible for daily fueling and lubrication of equipment in the field, performing basic maintenance and minor repairs, and documenting all work performed. Communication with management regarding repair needs and timelines is essential. Maintaining a clean job site and understanding material handling in compliance with SDS sheets are also key responsibilities. The role involves working alongside skilled technicians to learn and perform quality vehicle service maintenance and repairs, documenting daily work in a software tracking system, and using various hand tools and equipment. This position is considered safety-sensitive and requires adherence to all safety regulations and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • At least 5 years' experience with heavy machinery maintenance.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a heavy equipment lube technician.
  • A working knowledge of heavy construction equipment such as paving equipment and heavy civil paving maintenance equipment.
  • Must meet FMCSA English proficiency requirements under 49 CFR §391.11(b)(2), including the ability to read and speak English, understand highway signs, respond to official inquiries, and make required entries on reports and records.
  • A CDL Class A license to include tanker and Haz-Mat Endorsements is required.
  • Must have own tools.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily fuel and lube on heavy machinery and vehicles in the field from a Service Lube truck.
  • Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform vehicle inspections, basic maintenance and minor repairs; document all work and repairs through weekly electronic inspection forms.
  • Perform preventative maintenance regarding lubrication services.
  • Communicate with management when additional repairs are needed or when repairs cannot be completed in the scheduled time period.
  • Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day.
  • Understand material handling and storage in compliance with SDS sheets.
  • Work alongside skilled technicians to learn how to perform quality vehicle service maintenance and repairs.
  • Document daily work and routines in software tracking system.
  • Use equipment and/or an assortment of hand tools.
  • Perform all other general laborer work as needed.
