JOB SUMMARY Responsible for commercial loan underwriting, providing insightful support towards the Credit Administration and Commercial Lending functions of the Bank, and training and mentoring other members of the Credit Administration and commercial lending teams. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare complex loan presentations for decisioning by lenders, CLO, Officers Loan Committee (OLC), and the Bank’s Board of Directors. Accurately document all Loan Policy exceptions and risk rate loans in compliance with the Bank’s Loan Risk Rating procedures. Provide a written analysis that includes a list of all strengths and weaknesses of a credit, including loan grade or alternative structure to Relationship Manager. Calculate and review borrower compliance with loan covenants and report any violations to Credit Analyst III and Senior Credit Officer. Maintain a personal program for maintaining an adequate level of knowledge in lending, accounting and other banking matters, and demonstrate personal and interpersonal behavior, attitude, judgment, communication and initiative with customers and employees in order to ensure an acceptable degree of performance. Manage the Bank’s Annual File Review (AFR) processes including the annual review of the lending portfolio to identify all relationships needing to be reviewed during each calendar year. Monitor and distribute status reports and manage the financial tickler process to ensure accurate tracking, preparation and submission of Annual File Reviews. Manage the Commercial Loan Pipeline tracking and reporting. Attend OLC meetings as needed, providing an explanation of the financial analysis and taking minutes to be presented to the Bank’s Board of Directors. Attend “Golden Ticket” or similar meetings as needed, providing an explanation of the financial analysis or taking minutes. Prepare written analyses which includes new loan requests, annual reviews, and modification requests providing an in-depth credit investigation of the borrower(s) and guarantor(s) historical and projected financial analysis; analysis of the sources of repayment, collateral, economic and market conditions Assures that records of sources and supported documentation are imaged into the Core System. Periodically lead weekly Credit Department meetings. Occasionally meet with lenders and clients to better understand the details and financial implications of new loan requests. Routinely incorporate compliance (knowledge of applicable laws/regulations) and generally accepted lending practices in daily tasks. Provide occasional training on commercial underwriting to other JBT employees. Perform due diligence work customary in commercial loan transactions. Evaluate and analyze financial statements, personal and business tax returns, personal financial statements, borrower prepared projections, management performance, market or industry risk, capital structure, and collateral on complex relationships (ex. Municipalities, Hotels/Motels, Construction Companies, Developments, Cannabis Related Businesses (CRB’s), customers with multiple entities, etc.). Utilize underwriting software to analyze credit worthiness, discuss credit findings with lenders, and recommend options to limit risk. Proofread written documentation (meeting minutes, loan presentations, correspondence, etc.) to ensure clarity and compliance with generally accepted grammar and spelling standards. Assist Credit Administration with assignments related to OLC, Credit Risk Management Committee (CRMC), Examinations, and Audits as needed. Promote and preserve JBT’s values and culture. Follow Bank policy and procedure to prevent fraud and financial crimes. Other duties as assigned.
