About The Position

The FSQA Technician is responsible for ensuring compliance with Sysco's Food Safety Program, including HACCP/SQF programs, sanitation standard operating procedures, pest control, good manufacturing practices, approved supplier programs, foreign material control, allergen program management, plant sanitation, chemical control, and product quality assurance. This role involves sample preparation, cook tests, visual and organoleptic evaluations, and potentially tasting of products (meat and fish/seafood). The technician will also review and respond to customer complaints, manage food defense and security, and assist in employee training on FSQA programs. They will support the implementation of the independent FSQA audit program (SQF Audits), provide assistance with product evaluations, plant visits, and supplier/customer communication. Additionally, the technician will assist in other QA department functions, obtain raw material ingredient specifications, manage finished product specifications, and be available for flexible hours as needed. This role is responsible for compliance with all policies and SOPs related to Sysco's Food Safety Program and will assist the Food Safety Program Manager in ensuring compliance with third-party certification and customer requirements. The position also emphasizes a commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and reporting hazards and incidents immediately.

  • Responsible for compliance with all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) comprising Sysco’s Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role.
  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
