Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in Quality Assurance
  • Familiar with GFSI schemes (BRCGS), GMP, and HACCP
  • Excellent computer, written, documentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to cover other shifts, as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the plant floor policies and programs and organization's Quality Assurance program.
  • Assists to highlight any food safety/defense program deviations.
  • Ensures that the Quality control procedures and policies of the process are carried out and works to correct issues with the operations team.
  • Performs periodic tests and verification audits as outlined.
  • Ensures the current Quality control Plan is adhered to and any deviations are identified and communicated to Operations.
  • Works on continuous improvement of quality standards and specifications to meet company and customer requirements.
  • Monitors quality control plans or process control procedures as written that will ensure production of finished products which meet safety and quality specifications and standards (GMP’s AND HACCP).
  • Complete daily GMP and Glass/Brittle Plastic checks and verification inspections ensuring accurate documentation and closure of deviations.
  • Monitors the quality specifications and standards (BOPS) for raw materials, processes and finished product during manufacturing to ensure compliance.
  • Responds to any quality issues on the floor as notices or requested by Operations.
  • Monitors incoming shipments of raw materials to ensure they meet specifications and inspect/release/transfer ingredients for production as required.
  • Responsible to oversee the hold and release program for quality issues.
  • Oversees RedZone process to ensure quality checks are accurate per SOP and compliance is maintained by Operations.
  • Assist with training of staff as required following annual training matrices.
  • Assist in customer complaint resolution and communication.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
