About The Position

The FSQA Technician Lead will assist FSQA Leadership in supervising shift inspectors and ensuring compliance with Food Safety and Specification Adherence. This role involves coordinating the activities of FSQA Technicians, addressing issues with supervision, and ensuring safety in all aspects, including personal and food safety. The position requires working with beef, poultry, and pork products, as well as other potential allergens. The lead will implement daily plans, accommodate absences, monitor progress, conduct shift briefings, and be responsible for training and development of FSQA Technicians. They will also review records for accuracy, investigate non-conformance issues, and report quality and food safety issues to FSQA Leadership. Product inspection for compliance with specifications, quality control, legal requirements, and shipping/packing standards is also a key duty, all in accordance with USDA, company policy, and established procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience with FSQA preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skills to complete Tyson paperwork.
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate the hourly workforce.
  • Good problem identification and problem-solving skills.
  • Math and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications.
  • Must function well under stress.
  • Must have flexibility to work where and when needed.
  • Willing and able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand on hard surface for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Must work in cold/hot temperatures typically ranging from 30-90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Must be able to work in wet environment.
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, squatting, gripping, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be able to reach high and low levels frequently.
  • Ability to climb step ladders and or stairs.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the activities of the FSQA Technicians and directly address issues with the appropriate members of supervision.
  • Ensure safety in all aspects, including personal safety and food safety.
  • Handle additional assignments as requested.
  • Receive and break down the overall plans for each day's activities from FSQA Leadership into detailed work assignments for the FSQA Technicians.
  • Accommodate vacations, days off, or other absences for FSQA Technicians.
  • Follow up on the progress of all FSQA Technicians and production activities during the shift, providing necessary input to ensure FSQA objectives are met.
  • Meet with FSQA Technicians at the beginning of the shift to brief them on their specific work assignments, the production schedule, and areas needing extra attention.
  • Responsible for the training and proficiency development of all FSQA Technicians.
  • Ensure daily FSQA records are accurate, complete, and conform to established requirements.
  • Address all nonconformance issues identified during the shift, ensuring non-conforming products are properly isolated, identified, and placed on Hold.
  • Identify and address the cause of the problem.
  • Inform FSQA Leadership of all Quality & Food Safety issues identified during the shift in a timely manner.
  • Determine compliance with order specifications, quality control systems, legal requirements, and shipping and packing standards.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with USDA, company policy, and established procedures.
  • Obtain Lock Out Tag Out certification.
