About The Position

This role involves ensuring compliance with food safety and quality systems, managing deviations, change control, SOPs, and GMP training. The position also includes developing work instructions, creating and revising quality programs, reviewing GMP documents, assisting with team member development, supporting inspections, leading the QA team, addressing regulatory requests, identifying and disposing of non-conforming products, creating product specifications, and supporting sanitation efforts. Other tasks as required by the supervisor are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a Supervisory position.
  • QA experience within a Food manufacturing environment, both with raw and ready-to-eat finished product.
  • Knowledge of FDA Regulations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and analysis techniques to maximize the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills to consider and identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and choose the most appropriate course of action.
  • Must have or complete HACCP certification program within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and ensure HACCP plan compliance using Food Safety and Quality systems.
  • Conduct investigations into process related deviations.
  • Manage the QA change control process.
  • Prepare/revise SOPs.
  • Develop and deliver GMP training programs.
  • Develop detailed work instructions to ensure consistency in product formulation, incorporating employee safety and food quality practices.
  • Review, update, and create quality programs and policies in coordination with the FSQA Director.
  • Review relevant GMP documents for compliance with company SOPs, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist Production Managers in onboarding, training, and developing Team Members.
  • Support regulatory/customer/third-party inspectors to ensure facility, equipment, and operations meet or exceed all regulatory food safety and quality requirements.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for Quality Assurance team members to ensure programs are working, procedures are followed, product quality is monitored, and Food Safety Practices are enforced.
  • Support and ensure FSQA techs are following procedures and covering their job responsibilities.
  • Cover FSQA Tech shifts as needed.
  • Lead the addressing of all regulatory official requests, including leading plant inspections.
  • Identify non-conforming products and lead the decision-making process for disposition based on food safety and quality risks.
  • Create and revise product specifications, including ingredient statements and nutrition facts for new and reformulated products.
  • Support Sanitation supervisors in developing SSOPs and strategies to maintain a clean and safe bakery.
  • Perform other tasks as required by supervisor.
