About The Position

The FSQA Supervisor oversees daily food safety and quality operations to ensure the consistent production of safe, wholesome, and high-quality products that meet regulatory, customer, and company standards. This role supervises FSQA technicians, leads verification and monitoring activities, supports regulatory and third-party audits, and serves as backup to the FSQA Manager. The FSQA Supervisor is a key driver of compliance, continuous improvement, and cross-functional communication.

Requirements

  • Five years of Quality Management in the food industry.
  • Completed HACCP and PCQI training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and effective problem-solving.
  • Capable of accurate measurement using lab instruments.
  • Time management and self-motivation for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise FSQA technicians including scheduling, performance management, coaching, training, and discipline.
  • Ensure seamless communication and handoffs between shifts.
  • Promote a culture of food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor plant operations for compliance with GMPs, HACCP/Preventive Controls, sanitation standards, allergen control, foreign material prevention, and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Verify CCP/PC records, sanitation pre-operational inspections, and production quality checks.
  • Conduct internal audits (GMP, HACCP, EMP, sanitation, traceability).
  • Lead investigations for deviations, non-conformances, customer complaints, and out-of-spec results.
  • Support regulatory inspections (FDA, state agencies) by preparing documentation and participating in facility walkthroughs.
  • Assist with third-party certification audits (SQF, Kosher, customer audits).
  • Maintain accurate FSQA documentation and records.
  • Prepare routine and special reports documenting testing activities, swab results, finished product testing, and HACCP verification.
  • Assist with the administration of the product recall program, including mock recalls and returned product disposition.
  • Verify lot coding, traceability documentation, and raw material/finished product tracking, Hold Log.
  • Ensure compliance with FSMA Preventive Controls, including verification of monitoring, corrective actions, and recordkeeping.
  • Identify opportunities to improve food safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
  • Collaborate with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve issues.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring employees follow safety procedures and receive required training.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions immediately and apply corrective action consistently.
  • Spend approximately 75% of time on the production floor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Use SPC and statistical tools to analyze trends in micro, quality, and process data.
  • Present findings and corrective action recommendations to FSQA Manager and cross-functional teams.
